Q - E-Design: Who is it for and what does Spaces by Wen Offer?

Virtual E-Design is for you if …

  • You are comfortable doing things online

  • You are willing and comfortable taking measurements and photos of your space

  • You are looking for a simple, budget friendly room design that you can shop easily online.

  • Able to order products on your own and handle any returns/exchanges

  • Able to hire any tradesmen (painter, installer, etc) on your own

  • You want to make your purchases yourself at your own pace and don’t need custom options

  • You need design guidance, and want to save money by doing the shopping and set up of your space.

  • You want someone to tell you exactly where to buy the items. 

  • You want access to a professional designer, contact free.

  • You’ve always wanted to work with an interior designer, but full service design is out of your price range.

Hybrid | Local Option …

  • You are local to San Diego. (*travel fee may apply based on project location)

  • You need to see things in person, paint, tile and other samples.

  • Taking measurements and sending pictures over email isn’t your thing. (*additional charges may apply)

  • You like to do things in-person or face to face - 
    I do not offer full install such as (all of your new furniture delivered and installed at the same time; ie, the designer houses the furniture until install)

  • You have contractors you like to use but would like someone else to coordinate and spearhead some of design projects.

Q - What type of spaces / projects do you design and handle?

I specialize in residential design. Whether it’s a living/family room, bedroom, dining room, kitchen, bath, or office you can rest easy knowing I can handle any room you need help with.
I handle projects that are quick turning without major renovations, but can assist with selecting finishes such as backsplash, countertops, tile, floor stain, etc. At this time my services are geared towards decorating spaces (sourcing sofas, rugs, curtains, decorative accents, etc.) rather than full remodel projects. If you are looking for full remodeling, I will gladly work with any contractors that you have hired. If you have a project that you would like to work on together but not sure if it falls under my scope, let’s chat!

Q - How long do projects typically take?

Every project is slightly different. The lead time depends on the size of the space, the complexity of the project, and the client’s availability to provide direction and make decisions in order to complete the job. I will provide you with an estimated time of completion and will do my very best to stick to that time frame! The amount of time needed to complete a project may change as the project progresses.

Q - Can you really know what works best for my home without seeing it in person?

Absolutely! Remember I’ll have time to talk one-on-one about your room AND you’ll also answer questions, send me measurements and photos of your space. That gives me plenty of information to work with. We can always have further discussions before any project start date.

Q - What if I live in San Diego, can we meet in person and work together that way?

Of course! As a San Diego interior designer, I can work with you locally or long-distance with my virtual design service. These types of services fall under my HYBRID category.

Q - Will the design be in my style or yours?

This process is all about YOU! This is your home, your space. My goal is to make the best design to fit your style. We’ll take lots of time making sure we are on the right path to your ultimate design. In the end you’ll love it

Q - Are there any services you don’t provide?:
*My services do not include the following:

●       Architectural or Engineering Services. *
●       Assembly of furniture.*
●       Re-upholstery/re-purposing of furniture.
●       Custom window treatments.
●       Custom furniture, millwork or lighting.*
●       Electrical work/installation.
●       Purchasing, handling and accepting deliveries.
●       Returns.
●       Painting.
●       Cleaning.
●       Moving of heavy furniture.
●       Packing, removing or selling furniture

*I do have specific vendors that I can recommend if needed but at this time I do not offer to contract or subcontract these services.

Q - Will you work with my contractors?

YES! I will gladly work alongside with your architect and or builder, lighting consultants, landscape architects and any other trades person that you have hired.

Q - Do you know or provide contractors?

*Your project includes remodeling, such as moving walls, plumbing, electrical, painting, handyman, etc. and you don’t know or have a contractor tradesman.

Spaces by Web does not provide contractor services. I do have a list of vendors that I can suggest in the San Diego Area. The client will enter into contracts directly with each contractor. Spaces by Wen will also work with your architect and or builder, lighting consultants, landscape architects and any other trades person that you have hired.

Q - What if I have never worked with a Designer before?

No worries! Working with a designer shouldn’t be intimidating and certainly won’t be with me. I’m east coast organized and west coast laid back. We’ll tackle this journey together and I’ll be here to guide you through the whole process.

Q - From what kind of retailers do you use in your “shopping list” items?

Based on the answers given in the design questionnaire, your budget and your favorite stores, I shop from a multitude of retailers and am adept at finding beautiful pieces at any level of investment. We’ll be chatting about budget for the space at our initial meeting, so rest assured any items we include in your Shopping List will be tailored to your budget.

Q - What to expect with a consultation:

I will chat with you to discuss your vision for the space, project scope, the budget, your aesthetic, functionality requests, etc. We’ll discuss whether you’re starting from scratch, reimagining your existing furnishings, or looking to enhance the functionality of your home. The basis of the initial consultation is to gather as much information needed to be able to create your perfect space.
We’ll talk about things like:

  • What’s working in your current home & what isn’t

  • What are your daily habits?

  • What does a special occasion look like?

  • What are you keeping in the space?

  • Your design esthetic & styling plan for the new space

  • Review next steps for project start

  • Pricing and budget - Transparency is everything!

Q - Will you come to my house and set everything up for me?

At this time, I do not offer installation, assembly, or set-up as part of my services. The e-design service provides you with a set up guide, and you can implement it as time and budget allows. You will have to hire a third party to assemble, move furniture, paint or install large items.  For my local clients, I do offer “shelf styling” services - please reach out to me for details and pricing.

Q - How do I prepare for an interior design consultation?

Before our consultation, please fill out the detailed design questionnaire to prepare us for our first meeting.  The more time and thought you put into it the better!  We usually cover a lot of ground during a consultation so have your questions ready and we’ll work through as much as we can during our time together.  

Q - What forms of payment do you accept?

I accept contactless payment via Chase, Venmo/Zelle with no fee. We also accept payment via all major debt/credit cards: VISA, MasterCard, Discover and American Express. Payments via credit or debt card incur a 4% handling fee via Square. Cash and Check may be acceptable for local clients.

Q - When is payment due?

Payments are based on project types. We will discuss specifics at our initial consultation. For the most part, 50% of payment is due up front, with the remainder due at concept review. Due to the nature of digital artwork, renders, concept boards and intellectual property - all payments are due before release of final concepts. Some E-Design projects require full payment in advance.

Q - Cancellation Policy :

I understand that things happen sometimes and you have to cancel or re-schedule.
To cancel or reschedule please contact me directly through spacesbywen@gmail.com . I offer cancellations only prior to the performance of the service. If the service has already been done or started I do not offer a refund.
